O’Neill impressed out in Mitchell by finishing over 40 points clear of Ravenna and Valentine, who had a nice battle for second. The Eagles had six champs and advanced 12 wrestlers to next week’s district tournament.

Ravenna moved ten through and were led by champs Jesse Drahota (182) and the mullet master Thomas Psota at 285.

Valentine was marred by injuries this season. They lost starting 120 Lamb, 2x medalist Olson, 2x qualifier/1x medalist Battershaw, 152 start Kadon Wenig and their 132 starter Cody Miller. Good news is they got starting 285 Fullerton back, who finished in third. Drake Janssen really impressed for the Badgers. Essentially dominating his was through the toughest bracket of the day at 160.

Outside of #10 Janssen at 160, three other great wrestlers in Reisbeck (Ravenna), Stieb (Arcadia-Loup City) and Acevado (O’Neill) all move to next week. They’ll join #4 Kluthe (Ord), #7 Menke (Bridgeport) and #9 Klingelhoefer (Amherst) in one of the better district weights for the weekend.
