Grand Island came away with the district title defeating runner up Omaha Westside by over 33 points. There was a lot of drama in the A2 district starting at weigh ins. #3 (106) Presden Sanchez missed weight when he weighed in at 108.1. He had to move up to 113 where he finished in second place. The other big news was defending state champion and all around really good kid, Tony Pray was not medically cleared to participate and was held out of districts. With the news of Pray’s departure, 195 pound ranked wrestlers #7 Daylon Keolavone and #8 Tyler Stewart bumped up to 220 where the both ended up in the finals with Stewart coming out on top. Tyler Salpas returned to the lineup for the first time in over a month and qualified for state.#7 (145) Jayden Looney bumped up to 152 for districts and finished in third. At 120, #8 Ein Obermiller gave #5 Julio Reyes his first loss of the season. Obermiller won 8-6. At heavyweight, Iziah Guzman defeated #4 Michael Isele in the semifinals.
