Valentine Invite
The Valentine Invite is annually one of the toughest pre-Christmas tournaments. With Broken Bow competing in Lincoln on Friday, it does lose a bit of firepower. Winner, SD and Valentine have traded tournament titles the past few seasons and this year should be another good team race between the two. David City should put pressure on the top two teams. Valentine, Ord, Amherst, Ainsworth and Gordon-Rushville are all C4 teams so there are some district implications on the line as well.
The lighter weights aren’t quite as strong as we’ve seen in past years, but from 126 on up there should be quite a few good battles. 195 is shaping up to be an excellent weight class and if Potts is back in the lineup for Amherst we could see a Class C 1 vs 2 matchup. Even without Potts, Bogard is more than capable of finishing high at the weight. 126 and 160 have battles between top-ranked wrestlers from Valentine and Winner, SD.

Logan View Invite
Logan View will be the front-runner at their home invite on Saturday. Class B Columbus Lakeview could make a run for the title as well. Milford isn’t quite at full strength yet, but is extremely tough at 113-160. 113 could have a C #2 vs #3 matchup. Keep an eye on talented freshman Logan Burt at 120.

Elgin Public/Pope John Invite
Plainview should dominate the team race at the Elgin Invite, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to be treated to some fantastic matches. There should be around 33 ranked wrestlers int he field. 145 has five out of the top six in Class D. There are three other weight classes with four ranked wrestlers. Jerabek and Cave at 285 is a rematch from the state semifinals last year. 138 and 152 could have 1 vs 2 matches.
