Kearney finished 5 points behind tournament champion Goddard at this 37-team tournament. Phillip Moomey (126) stormed to the finals using 2 falls and 2 technical falls, then found himself trailing by 1 point with 10 seconds left. Moomey used an over-under tie up to throw his opponent and secure a dramatic 8-4 victory. Nick James (138) and Lee Herrington (285) combined for 3 falls, 1 technical fall, and 1 major decision to advance to the finals where they both lost to nationally ranked opponents from Colorado. Teontae Wilson (145) collected 5 pins on his way to a 3rd place finish while Sean Jackson (195) added 2 falls and also finished 3rd. The Spartans scored 315 points at this 22-team tournament to win the team title. Chance Fry (145) and AJ Muthersbaugh (182) combined for 6 falls and 2 technical falls. Runner-ups for the Spartans were Maxx Mayfield (120), Micah Odell (152) and Drake Reinke (285) who combined for 8 falls and 1 technical fall. The Patriots amassed 268 points, 163 points more than the runner-up team thanks to 9 champions, 4 runner-up and 1 third place finisher. The Eagles had three wrestlers win their brackets and two wrestlers finish 3rd this weekend. Emilio Haynes (113), Chris Kueny (120), and Tre’Vion Williams (152) combined for 8 falls a 1 major decision on their way to titles. Haynes earned the outstanding wrestler award by beating top-ranked Lazure of Skutt and avenged his only loss on the season to Lomax of Boys Town. Williams earned the most falls award. Ryan Turner (106) and Jacob Frezell-McClinton (285) both finished 3rd.
