Amherst Invite:
Saturdays Amherst Invite featured to two top ranked team is Class D #1 Amherst and #2 Plainview. Plainview was without the services of few kids this weekend, so the team race wasn’t what it was expected to be earlier in the season. Amherst won the tournament with 202 point behind the power of 3 tournament champions in Salvador Agurrie (113), Kalen Klingelhoefer (170), and Dane Bogard (195). Amherst also brought home 7 other varsity medals from their home invite. Plainview finished second with 119.5 with Trent Steinkruas (132) Christian Miller (138) and Cole Aschoff (145) climbing to the top of the podium.

On Friday night, Class D #3 Burwell used 8 medals including tournament champ Tori Huffman to win their own invite with 178 points. Burwell was with out the services of Tyler Gideon on Friday but still managed to put 5 in the finals. Cross County was the team runner-up with 143 points.

The Kearney Reserve team brought home the Franklin invite championship using 12 medals to rack up 230 points and defeat 2nd place Southwest who finished with 169. There were a couple of high quality match ups with highly ranked wrestlers clashing at 138 and 152. Franklin’sB rody Lewis had a fantasic day by scoring 3 falls before winning by tech fall in the finals over #3 Brett Riggs.

In Columbus on Friday, 22 teams took the mat for the 2-day 48th annual High Plains invite. Valentine rolled through the tournament scoring 262 points and 101 points more than runner-up Wahoo who finished with 161. The Class D team that finished the highest was the host school High Plains.
