Three ranked teams are competing at Wood River on Friday. Aquinas is an extremely deep team and likely the favorite after capturing the title at Wood River last year by half a point over Ord. Ord will be without the services of top ranked Gabriel and Amherst may be without Shields at 132, Florell at 152, Potts at 170 and Brock at 182. Wood River outdistanced St. Paul by 11.5 points at Ravenna last week for the runner-up trophy. There are 22 individually ranked wrestlers slated to compete. Half of the weights have multiple ranked wrestlers. Without a doubt the top weight of the tournament is the 182lb class.

106:
Ancheta and Vandenberg are familiar with each other from youth wrestling and look like the favorites heading in.

C#5 Dylan Ancheta (Wood River)
C#6 Hunter Vandenberg (Aquinas)

113:
Zitek notched convincing wins over both Thompson and Sauceda last season. Thompson won 6-4 over Sauceda in the Ravenna Invite finals last week and the two could see each other again the semifinals this week.

C#2 Zach Zitek (Aquinas)
SQ Carson Thompson (Wood River)
D#2 @ 106 Jesse Sauceda (Shelton)

C#6 Drake Belville (Doniphan-Trumbull)
SQ Noah Scott (Aquinas)
SQ Sam Tourney (Shelton)

126:
Carlson has finished 3rd the past two seasons and will look to finish his senior season on top of the podium. Boyce was a state qualifier at 120C after dropping down late in the season. Quentin Frank of Amherst is one of the top freshmen in the state this year.

C#1 Lee Carlson (Sutton)
D#6 Quentyn Frank (Amherst)
SQ Kaden Boyce (Ord)
Ben Shonka (Aquinas)

132:
State medalist Rowse is the likely top seed in a talented weight. Schrad was a state qualifier in class B last year for Seward. Feldner finished 2nd at Ravenna last week.

C#4 @ 126 Colton Rowse (Ord)
SQ Cameron Schrad (Aquinas)
Christopher Feldner (Kearney Catholic)

138:
Waddington pinned Shiers at Ravenna last week. Aquinas state qualifier Redler will be a likely semifinal opponent for Shiers. Ord’s Petska was a qualifier in 2016 and has been injured at the end of the season the past two years. He is up three weights from last year.

C#1 Evan Waddington (Wood River)
C#6 @ 132 Layne Shiers (Kearney Catholic)
SQ Creighton Redler (Aquinas)
SQ Talon Petska (Ord)

145:
Rogers and Helgoth were both qualifiers at 138 last year. Carlson won a ton of matches last season and will be a tough semifinal opponent.

C#6 Zach Rogers (Kearney Catholic)
SQ Logan Helgoth (Aquinas)
Cory Carlson (Sutton)

152:
Returning state qualifier Thompson won over #5 Smith in OT at Ravenna last week. Smith narrowly edged Daake in the same tournament. Hinrichs was a qualifier at 126 last year so we’ll see how he adjusts to the jumps in weight. Ord state qualifier Kluthe was a late add at this weight making it one of the deepest weights of the tournament. Amherst state medalist Sam Florell is not in the lineup yet.

C#4 @ 145 Garret Kluthe (Ord)
C#5 Austin Smith (St. Paul)
C#6 Joseph Hinrichs (Sutton)
SQ Camden Thompson (Wood River)
Jaxson Daake (Kearney Catholic)
Colten Ballentine (Hershey)
Nolan Eller (Aquinas)

160:
Racicky won a 1-point match over Amherst’s Stokebrand in Ravenna last week. Ord has two state qualifiers in Shoemaker and Meyer at this weight. Amherst’s Stokebrand beat returning qualifiers Kautz and Eacker last week. Stone won a ton of matches last season but didn’t make it out of a tough district.

D#3 @ 152 Blake Racicky (Ansley-Litchfield)
SQ Clayton Shoemaker (Ord)
Cole Stokebrand (Amherst)
SQ Michael Kautz (Shelton)
SQ Christian Eacker (St. Paul)
SQ Kelen Meyer (Ord)

170:
Rasmussen notched wins over both Potts and Garcia at the Ravenna Invite. However presently it looks like both Rasmussen and Potts are not competing. Keep an eye on Dusty Stone who could emerge as the champ at this weight. Shelton’s Garcia is a returning state qualifier.

Tyson Rasmussen (St. Paul)
D#6 Jarin Potts (Amherst)
SQ Leroy Garcia (Shelton)
Dusty Stone (Sutton)

182:
The marquee weight of the tournament. Both Reimers and Baptista are preseason top ranked wrestlers in their respective classes. State medalist Feldner will likely see Baptista in the semifinals with qualifier Ulrich and Reimers on the other side.

C#1 Joseph Reimers (Aquinas)
D#1 Edwen Baptista (Friend)
C#3 Matthew Feldner (Kearney Catholic)
C#6 Jesse Ulrich (Ord)

Tyler Ohrman (Sutton)
Nick Padrnos (St. Paul)
Braden Peterworth (Sutton)
