Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to Mother Nature, and Week One of the 2018/19 wrestling season was no exception. The weather on Saturday caused several tournament cancellations, as well as other schools electing not to risk travel. Many schools will be scrambling to find replacements for the lost tournaments and December 21st is looking like a hot bed for a make-up date. Stay tuned for more on that within the next week.

B#6 Blair dominated their home tournament, outpacing C#8 Logan View by 49 points. The Bears were paced by six individual champions – 106 – #3B Luke Bailey, 120 – #1B Jackson Nielsen, 126 – Brody Karls, 152 – Liam Landauer, 160 – Treyton Jones, 220 – Gabe Rand and four runner-ups – 113 – Landon Templar, 126 – #6B (113) Tyler Curtis, 138 – Charlie Powers, 182 – Bill Rasmussen, 220 – Lance Hume in route to the team title.

Lakeview Invite
B#8 Columbus Lakeview started the season off by claiming their home tournament, beating C#4 David City 265-223. Lakeview was without Cody Thompson and was still able to take home the hardware. The Vikings crowned three champions – 113 – Kevin Dominguez, 126 – #6B Gage Perry, and 195 – Austen Smith.

Cozad Invite
#B7 Lexington took home the team title at the condensed Cozad Invite. This tournament was to feature 15 Class B teams, but the weather forced it down to a total of five teams. One notable result was at 132 where Brady Fago (Lexington) defeated #5B Wyatt Hotz (Gothenburg) SV1 6-4.
York Duals
Weather changed up this dual as #B2 Northwest and Neligh Oakdale made the decision not to travel due to the impending weather forecast. The dual tournament still went on with Omaha Burke claiming the team title.
