West Point-Beemer takes home the subdistrict title in a close battle with Minden. Not much separated the top four as Platteview and Concordia were in the thick of things as well. Ralston finished in 5th, but keep an eye on them at the state tournament as they have a ton of top end points.
At 160 pounds, #4 Alex Banuelos (Minden) defeated unbeaten #2 Elliot Steinhoff (Platteview). These two will likely meet again in the district semifinals next week with the winner taking on #1 Lyons of York.
At 285 #2 Hernandez picked up the only takedown to defeat #3 Hartman 4-2. West Point advanced ten wrestlers to Districts. Minden had eleven wrestlers advance.
138 was a solid weight that featured #3 Nadrchal, #10 Mass and #9 Heath and a tough Ommert of Auburn. Nadrchal emerged as the winner with a close 2-1 win over Mass in the finals. Mass beat Heath in the semis.
Omaha Concordia’s Jack Hartman wrestled his first matches of the season at 120 after wrestling the whole season at 126 up until this point. He is now the favorite to win B2 next week after defeating Ryba in the finals.
