Saturday

Central Conference
Teams:
Adams Central (B2), #9 Aurora (B1), Lakeview (B1), Crete (B2), Holdrege (B4), Lexington (B4), #4 Northwest (B3), Schuyler (B2), Seward (B3), York (B2)

What to Watch:
Lexington might not have picked up the mats after the John Higgins Invite last weekend as they host the Central Conference Tournament this Saturday. 30 ranked wrestlers are slated to compete. Aurora, York, Northwest, Adams Central and Lakeview could all be in the mix for the team title. At least two schools in each Class B district are competing so there are seeding implications there. Kort and Arends haven’t wrestled in their two duals so maybe we’ll finally see them meet at 113. Kluck and Quandt will be a 1 vs 2 battle at 138. Those two should have good semifinal challenges as 138 has four top six wrestlers from Class B.

EMC Tournament
Teams:
#6 Bennington, Blair, Nebraska City, Norris, Plattsmouth, Waverly, Elkhorn

What to Watch:
Bennington is favored to win the EMC this year. If Blair is healthy they can potentially challenge Bennington for the title. 220 should have #2 Menke and #3 Meyer in the finals, which would be the match of the tournament.

106: #3 Lauridsen (BEN), Loges (BLA), Nielsen (PLA)
113: #3 Parrish (BEN), #8 Prados (NC)

5 thoughts on “2020 Class B Week 9 Preview”
  1. Platteview Wrestling just won Conference last week over 2 ranked class B teams and a ranked Class C team. This was their first time winning conference in school history! This is a team that is finally up and coming and there has never been one post or mention of this team. They deserve something. Just an FYI! Thank you though for all you do!

    1. Hi Eli, we predicted Platteview to finish top five in their district. We also included the Raymond Central preview in our Class C/D preview for this weekend so make sure to check that out to see potential matchups. They’re having a great season!

  2. Platteview also upset Neb City at their dual Friday night. Platteview’s 120#, Riha beat the #5B kid in state. Then on Saturday Platteview’s 145# and 152#, Johnson and Steinhoff beat Class B’s #4 and #5 kids from Beatrice. Platteview should now have 4 ranked wrestlers at their respective weights. All 3 mentioned have battled all year and earned this right. Give credit where it’s due please not just a simple mention of them in the Class C and D preview. This is the best team Platteview has ever had. Not totally complete from top to bottom, but better than any previous teams they have had. Young, talented, and hungry!
    GO TROJANS!

    1. My mistake. Riha beat the #8 B kid from neb city that jumped up to 120#’s for that dual on Friday night. Still deserves to be ranked in his weight w that win. Beat him by score of 12-4. Impressive win.

      1. We are releasing updated rankings next week. There is no doubt these guys are having great seasons!
