Class B
The 2019-20 season is finally upon us! Last year proved to be another great year in Class B that saw two teams other than Skutt Catholic at the top of the podiums. Both Blair and Northwest took home their first ever state wrestling titles, winning the dual tournament and individual tournament respectively.
The 2019-20 season has all the makings of another great season with very competitive team races and strong individual match-ups throughout. Many of the contenders from the past couple of years will certainly push to claim a state title, but it’s no secret that Skutt Catholic has the firepower to push for their 21st title in 23 years. They have a senior heavy group and it shows in our initial rankings. Hastings with a new coaching staff, a heavy senior class, and some very capable newcomers look to be in the hunt come February. If Northwest can get quality production from their big three, and have some others fill the gap from the graduation losses, they should push toward the top as well. Also, keep an eye on Class B newcomer Arlington. They have a very solid group returning and could make things very interesting down the stretch.
Many wrestlers are still on their way down to weight or recovering from fall sports injuries, but here is a look at the pre-season rankings. Please note some of the weights may not be accurate as we based much of our information off the data we received from coaches. For those who didn’t respond, we did our best speculations as to where they may land. Also, to take any objectivity out our team rankings, we utilize point system for each ranked wrestler to determine our team rankings. As the season progress and the individual rankings change, so may the team rankings.
We would love to hear from you as the season gets rolling with any updates/changes/comments you have. We strive to produce the best product we can and your input is invaluable.
