Flatwater Fracas: Teams and Ranked Wrestlers

The 12th annual Flatwater Fracas is one of the premier wrestling tournaments in Nebraska. This year the Fracas features 27 teams from Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas, and Wyoming. Of the 27 teams involved, 17 of them are ranked in their respective states. Along with the team rankings, the Fracas showcases 112 individual ranked wrestlers, with 18 of them being ranked #1.

  1. Here is my question, being fairly new to this sport, and clearly not quite understanding how trackwrestling and ratings all work. If a wrestler is showing a 0-0 record, how are they being ranked? Are they really wrestling, and their records are just not being entered for others to see? I understand that ratings are based on a wrestlers previous endeavors and capabilities, however if they are not even out participating on that mat, how and why is it even up for discussion in ratings? If they are wrestling, then they should be no doubt, but I have seen a few listed that are showing a 0-0 record who are being rated.
