The Lincoln East wrestling team is looking to build upon one of their best finishes in recent years. In 2017, the Spartans finished 11th at the state wrestling tournament and 4th at the state dual tournament. East is expecting to have 18 returning state qualifiers on the roster, 11 of which were on last year’s varsity team. Maxx Mayfield is the Spartan’s sole returning medalist.

The Spartans are benefiting from Lincoln Public School’s open enrollment policy with two transfers from Lincoln Southeast: Adam Kinnaman and Chance Fry. Kinnaman is a three-time state medalist, taking bronze the last two years. Chance Fry is a two-time medalist and a 2017 state champion at 132 lbs. DaShawn Dixon will also be joining the Spartan squad. Dixon was a 2016 state champion for Hastings High School.

  1. Are you all gonna cover the illegality of these transfers? They were all illegally recruited by East coaches. Recruiting is not allowed per NSAA regulations
